This guide is intended to serve as a roadmap for students beginning in middle school to find their way to the college of their choice. The information herein is intended to guide students, regardless of what schools they may be interested in attending -- but obviously, we're a little partial to historically Black colleges and universities.

Research shows students perform better in school when the curriculum and approach to teaching reflect their lived experiences. Unfortunately, for Black, Hispanic, and Indigenous children, too often the materials and approach to learning not only don't reflect their lived experiences, they contradict them.

Download these talking points to get started on a conversation with your school district about why cultural competence is the bare minimum, and demand culturally responsive teaching to give your children the best chance for success.
